How to Cook Delicious Fish Pochero

It is common to all Filipinos to eat rice meal thrice a day. Therefore many Filipino mothers out there are  always  thinking what viand they  should cook for their meals.

That is why I wrote this article to simply  help you to answer that question. I will teach you on how to cook simple and delicious yet healthy recipe. Actually this recipe is popular dish for all Filipinos but only few knows how to cook this Fish Pochero.

Pochero is always composed of beef, pork or chicken with banana and different kinds of vegetables, but in this recipe instead of using meat I used fish, to make it healthier good for all the members of the family.

Below are the ingredients and procedure on how to cook this dish. I hope you will like it.

INGREDIENTS                                                               

  • 3 cloves of garlic minced
  • 1 medium sized onion chopped
  • 1 kilo tilapia
  • 200 g green beans
  • 200 g cabbage sliced
  • 5 pcs. medium sized banana (saba) sliced
  • 200 g bokchoy
  • 3 tbsp. tomato paste
  • 4 tbsp. fish sauce
  • 3 cups of water
  • oil

PROCEDURE

  1. Fry banana in frying pan over medium heat until it slightly turns to golden brown. After  frying the banana set it aside, fry the tilapia in the same frying pan. After frying set it aside.
  2.  Saute garlic and onion in oil in another sauce pan. Add the green beans and  steam it for 2 minutes. Then add  bokchoy, tomato paste, banana, tilapia, water and the fish sauce. Let all boil for 4 minutes.
  3.  Add the cabbage and then cook for 2 minutes.
  4.  Ready to serve.

INGREDIENTS

 

You can see below the ingredients that you need to use for making fish lumpiang shanghai. All of these can be bought in your local wet market or supermarket.

 

  1. 1 kilo clean tilapia
  2. 1/4 cup vinegar
  3. 1/4 cup water
  4. 2 cloves garlic
  5. 2 small onion
  6. 1 medium sized potato, sliced into tiny cube shape
  7. 1 small sized carrot, sliced into tiny cube shape
  8. 1 piece egg
  9. ground pepper
  10. iodized salt
  11. 2-3 cups of oil

 

HOW TO DO IT

 

Here’s the step-by-step procedure on how to cook your favorite fish lumpiang shanghai. Healthy and delicious for your family!

1. Put tilapia in a boiling pan, add in vinegar and water. Simmer for 5 minutes. When it is already cook, remove the fish bone of tilapia then cut the meat  of tilapia into small pieces using a knife.

 

2. In a frying pan, put little amount of oil, saute garlic and onion, add in carrot, potato, shredded tilapia, salt and pepper to taste. Stir and simmer for 5 minutes. Let it cool afterwards.

 

3. If the mixture is already cool, put the egg and stir. Prepare the spring roll wrapper. Get 1 tbsp of mixture and put in the wrapper, fold the both end of the wrapper and roll it. You can make 25- 30 pieces of lumpiang shanghai roll in this recipe.

 

4. In another frying pan, put in 2-3 cups of cooking oil, fry the lumpiang shanghai until it turns to golden brown.

 

5. Ready to serve. Better to serve it with banana ketchup or hot sauce.
